RIC One DPSS honored for technological innovation, ‘profound impact’ on education

The RIC One Data Privacy and Security Service has received the prestigious 2023 Exemplary Service and Innovation for Technological Advancement Award from the Association of Educational Service Agencies on Oct. 3 in Saratoga Springs.

The award acknowledges the agency’s contributions to technological innovation and support to local districts and educational service agencies.

In announcing the award, AESA Executive Director Joan H. Wade wrote, “your dedication to advancing technological initiatives and support for local districts and educational service agencies truly stands out. Your leadership and involvement in spearheading the RIC One Data Privacy and Security Service have exemplified the spirit of service and innovation that this award represents.”

The RIC One Data Privacy and Security Service, a collaborative of 12 Regional Information Centers, provides resources for school districts in New York State to navigate Ed. Law 2-d and Part 121 Regulations.

In her letter to Michael Doughty, chairman of the New York State Regional Information Center Directors and the team of 25+ from across the state, Ms. Wade said that the contributions and commitment of RIC One have made a profound impact.

“The collaborative effort of the 12 ESAs through the RIC One Data Privacy and Security Service is a shining example of how teamwork and collective vision can drive meaningful change,” she said. “Your initiative has played a pivotal role in equipping New York State K-12 districts with the tools and support they need to address the critical issue of data protection.”
