Schools & Libraries Division (SLD) - The Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund makes discounts available to eligible schools and libraries for telecommunication services, Internet access, and internal connections. The program is intended to ensure that schools and libraries have access to affordable telecommunications and information services.

TECHNOLOGY PLAN REQUIREMENTS FOR E-RATE FUNDING

In accordance with federal regulations, applicants for E-Rate funding have had to submit an updated district technology plan for the State Education Department to the Regional Information Center as part of the E-Rate application process. The Lower Hudson Regional Information Center is a recognized Technology Plan Approval agency (TPA), and reviews the plans for completeness before forwarding approval notification to the State Education Department.

Due to prior changes in USAC regulations, districts applying for only Priority 1 funding no longer need to submit technology plans to a Technology Plan Approval agency for review and certification as of FY 2011-2012.

IMPORTANT: if your district subscribes to an E-Rate eligible service provided by the LHRIC (ex. eChalk, TLS, Intellipath), the district will still be required to submit budget information (see template linked below) due by October 1, 2012.

If you have any questions about this information, please contact Leslie Accardo (laccardo@lhric.org) or Susan Krog (skrog@lhric.org).
