TECH EXPO 2009

Joins us March 13th (7:30AM-4:00PM) for the 3rd Annual TECH EXPO at the beautiful Edith Macy Conference Center in Briarcliff Manor, NY.  This event will showcase the best uses of technology by schools in the Lower Hudson Region.

Keynote Speakers:

Marco Torres -  "Digital Storytelling and Curriculum" Marco is a 10-year high school teacher, media coach, and education technology director for San Fernando HS, in Los Angeles. He is also a professional filmmaker and photographer who uses his digital storytelling skills to add value to the curriculum. Torres was honored as a California Teacher of the Year, for his accomplishments in the classroom, and for the use of technology to empower minority students. He is an Apple Distinguished Educator and serves as a board member for the George Lucas Educational Foundation.

Sarah Robbins - “Important Aspects of Teaching and Learning in Virtual Worlds.” Sarah is a PhD candidate at Ball State University. She is also a higher education consultant helping universities integrate Web 2.0 and virtual worlds technologies meaningfully into communication and pedagogy. She is the coauthor of Second Life for Dummies. Her research has been featured in the New York Times, USA Today, and the Chronicle of Higher Education.

Audience: Teachers, Directors of Technology, School Business Officials, Assistant Superintendents for Instruction, and Superintendents

Fees: TLI member districts can send staff to attend Tech Expo 2009 free of charge up to their district's quantity of annual TLI seats. For those districts that do not currently participate in TLI or would like to send additional district staff, the conference fee is $129 for the day, which includes buffet breakfast and lunch, all keynote speaker presentations, 21 breakout sessions and access to vendor representatives.
