LHRIC offers Remote Support to Consortium
Remote Support helps lower support costs and provides a "Virtual Technican" to resolve technical support issues in real time!!
What is Remote Support?
Remote Support is a cost effective support alternative to supplement traditional on-site support providing consortium districts with additional network support options. Traditionally the LHRIC has partnered with local school districts by having engineers on site to manage and maintain local area networks existing within local school districts. The Remote Support service will not be a replacement of “traditional” on site support but is a more cost effective means to supplement on site support by providing districts with a "Virtual Technician" to address daily support issues real time within a school district. This service centralizes support services and allows consortium districts to share in personnel costs providing a more cost effective alternative for support delivery. Participation in the remote support service provides all consortium districts the opportunity to maintain required support levels to ensure seamless operation and functionality of their networks and ensure end users receive timely support to technical needs. By taking advantage of various industry standard remote networking tools and leveraging the wide area network infrastructure in place between the LHRIC and our local school districts, the LHRIC can successfully deliver real time response to technical support needs of our supported local school districts.
How does it work?
Participating districts will be provided access to a customized home page where district staff members can initiate a request for service. Some basic information such as name, e-mail description of issue will be required before proceeding. Once this information has been submitted a "Virtual Technician" will be waiting to address the specific technical support issue submitted. Based on the nature of the issue, the remote support technician may or may not request access to a user's local desktop. Due to the robust infrastructure between the LHRIC and most of our districts along with our expertise around the support of educational networks, our remote support team is capable of providing an effective level of support remotely.
What is the Value?
Participation in the Remote Support Service provides districts with access to a pool of technical resources that is continuously available "real time" to service district staff in addressing technical support needs. It also provides continuous coverage to districts on days when there is no on site support coverage available and also extends technical support coverage beyond normal business hours providing daily coverage from 7:00AM-5:00PM. By participating in the remote support service it provides districts the opportunity to increase user productivity and user satisfaction by providing a more timely responsive service to address technical issues thereby reducing desk side visits.
