Wide Area Network Support & Services
Description Seventy-five percent of the public schools in Westchester, Putnam, and Rockland counties use the LHRIC Wide Area Network to connect to the Internet. We design, maintain and monitor connectivity between participating districts, the LHRIC, and the Internet. We service districts through multiple gateways and provide a firewall, spam filtering, intrusion detection, and e-mail virus scans in order to reduce network disruptions and keep access as secure as possible. Currently, the LHRIC Wide Area Network includes 350 buildings. Low cost, fiber optic, 100 megabit Ethernet wide area network connections, 1 gigabit Ethernet wide area connections, point to point wireless bridging, and managed fiber connections are available. These connections can be used not only for data communication between schools, districts and the Internet, but the LHRIC is empowering districts to use these connections for voice and video networks as well.
